May will soon turn into June, but a light cardigan is almost always part of Finnish summers. One that you can throw over your shoulders on a cool morning, wear over a summer dress for dinner, or take with you on a cabin trip or to a patio. Light cardigans are one of the most worn garments in summer, and perhaps that's why they are so delightful to knit yourself.

I have compiled three different cardigan patterns in this post that are perfect for late spring and summer knitting projects. Included are timeless classics, a beginner-friendly favorite, and soft mohair dreams. 🌸

The Ballet Cardigan, found in Leeni Hoimela's book Urban Knit Klassikot, is a light, soft, and striking cardigan that charms with its airy surface. This has become a real hit, and no wonder!

Armi's coral-colored sample piece is knitted from Biches & Bûches' Le Gros Silk Mohair yarn, which makes the knit wonderfully fluffy and luxurious to the touch. The best thing about this yarn is that you can achieve a striking and soft result with just one strand. In many fluffy cardigans, two or even three strands are knitted together, but Le Gros Silk Mohair is a sufficient and airy option on its own, saving effort and making knitting a bit simpler and lighter.
