Tukuwool Sock – domestic sock yarn made from Finnish wool

Tukuwool Sock is a high-quality sock yarn made entirely in Finland, combining the naturalness and durability of Finnish wool with biodegradable polyamide.

The yarn is spun from 100% Finnish wool , mainly from the Finnish sheep and Finnish Texel breeds , and its coarse, woolly feel makes knitting a real experience. The yarn also retains the pleasant scent characteristic of sheep wool.

Tuku Wool Sock yarn uses biodegradable polyamide as a reinforcement, which adds durability to socks and other hard-wearing knitwear. This ecological polyamide decomposes in about five years under the right conditions – significantly faster than conventional synthetic reinforcement.

A sustainable choice for hosiery knitters

Tukuwool Sock is specially designed for knitting wool socks. The yarn is three-ply, tightly twisted and yet lightweight , which makes it pleasant to handle and wear. The yarn is not superwashed, so it retains the best properties of wool: breathability, warmth and natural feel.

From one 100 g skein (approx. 320 m) you can knit basic socks using 2.5–3 mm needles. This sport-strength yarn is also great for sweaters and cardigans, for example.

Needle recommendations and knitting densities

  • Socks: 2.5–3 mm needles, density approx. 26–28 sts / 10 cm
  • Sweaters and other clothing: 3–3.75 mm needles, density approx. 23–26 sts / 10 cm
  • Estimated weight for a sweater: 400–600 g depending on size and style

Tukuwool Sock is an excellent choice for those who value domesticity, durability and naturalness in their knitwear.
