Collection: Malabrigo hand dyed yarns

In Malabrigo's selection, you will find yarns whose production process has paid special attention to ethics and animal welfare from the very beginning. The yarns mainly consist of really soft merino wool, which is obtained from local sheep farms in Uruguay.

Merino sheep are allowed to roam freely in the mountain meadows and are herded using traditional methods. The mulesing method is not known in Uruguay because the fly species for which the method was developed does not exist there. The wool is spun into yarn and the yarns are dyed by hand with non-toxic dyes and solar energy. The spinning mill and the dyeing mill primarily employ people who otherwise find it difficult to find employment, such as older women.
